As the weather turned warmer, I naturally became obsessed with plants again and have been painting them pretty much to the exclusion of all else. Here are a few of my recent paintings in watercolor!

All of these I painted from my own reference photographs. The hydrangeas especially took forever because I was really focusing on the details. I think I’m going to focus on composition and rendering depth of field soon. I feel like all those details I labored over are kind of getting lost among all the other details I labored over and so the effect is not quite as powerful as I would like.

I didn’t even bother to turn the image over since it’s cropped up top. I will need to scan it again. Yikes! I’m going to have to get it out of storage so no idea on when I’ll actually get around to it.
