I didn’t start with “the journey begins” as one might expect since for me this is really a continuation of a lifelong struggle (“pursuit” if I’m being generous) to pursue (the thesaurus wasn’t helping me here) all the different interests that plague<\/s> capture me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My mind is often scattered and if I was asked to enumerate all my interests there would be some that I forget about, though as soon as I remember I would be incapable of letting go, somehow deluding myself that no, I really can still do this thing that I had forgotten but totally care about. So step one was to make a list that exists outside of my head. Enter my “Pursuits” Trello board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to my little “Doing” checklist, I currently have 18 pursuits, if you put all the various crafting interests into one. The “X” you might see in there is to indicate that it is a pursuit I have let go of, though even now as I look at poor #justbookdatathings I feel an urge to throw myself back in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I’ve been there so many times before. I ultimately found little satisfaction in a book review website that no one saw. My interest was in talking to other people about the books I was reading, so I moved that particular operation over to Goodreads. Now that I think about it, I should either make a list on that board of things I’ve let go of, or archive it all together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyway. This blog is a way for me to get my stormy thoughts out of my head and down on “paper.” I’m hoping documenting my journey will result in more progress on these hobbies\/interests, because it might not surprise you that having all of these hobbies racks me with indecision. I freeze, trying to figure out what to spend my (extremely limited free) time on today, and ultimately don’t do anything at all. So maybe sharing the struggle will help. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
